What You Can Do:Educate yourself. Learn about the issues and resources available, including emergency numbers to call. Pass this information along.Listen without judgment, believe without underestimating the level of danger, and respect the victim’s decision, even if you disagree. Help the victim recognize abuse and its effects.Offer practical assistance: develop a secret phrase for the victim to use when she is in trouble and respond to it. Offer transportation and baby-sitting services. Keep a change of clothes for the victim.Do not put yourself in danger by physically intervening. Call the police.
